Balint Zsako: Here We Are
Works in the exhibition
Here We Are
October 17 – November 21, 2020
Thank you for taking a look at the work & for your thoughtful reply! Most of the process now is pulling together the narrative in a focused way. The paintings are more sober than usual but these are the times we’re living in.
The images are reflections of life in America so they necessarily address many complex issues, even if indirectly. To me they’re about borders, about relationships, about dependencies and individuality and how we rely on one another, they're about love and hate and fear. I hope that the power of the images comes from the fact that they exist in a near mythological register, full of ambiguity and otherworldliness, telling puzzling stories that are heavily flavored by being alive in 2020.
Will send invite & final sequence soon. I can’t make it to Toronto, but if you’re there in late October or November I hope you can go by the gallery.
be safe & hope to see you when the world is in a healthier state.
