Victor Romão is a multi-disciplinary Canadian artist living and working in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.  His years spent living in rural Southwestern Ontario, have acted as the catalyst for his interest in exploring the topics of otherness and male identity within rural communities.  He is interested in a variety of artistic practices with a strong focus on drawing.  He has participated in solo and group exhibitions across Canada, the U.S., Japan and New Zealand.

Through the fusion of personal memories of living in a rural setting, with my observations and examinations of the topics of: fear, male violence, and otherness, I bring to light facets of rurality that might otherwise escape the attention of non-rural communities. Through the creation of two- and three-dimensional artworks, video and performance, I hope to provide the viewers of my work with an unsettling encounter that simulates my discomfort of being attracted to and repulsed by various aspects of North American rural life.
